The B6 2.8\/1 is the successor to the E21 B6 2.8 based on the second-generation E30 3-series.<\/p>\n
Engine\/Gearbox<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n
As with the E21 B6 2.8, the B6 2.8\/1 is based on the 323i fitted with a modified BMW 2.8 liter engine, which now produced 184 bhp in stock form. Alpina fitted lighter Mahle-pistons, modified the combustion chambers & camshaft & exhaust, increased the compression and fitted a new electronic ignition. The engine produced 210 bhp with torque of 270 Nm.<\/p>\n
The gearbox is a Getrag five-speed unit.<\/p>\n
Suspension\/Brakes\/Wheels<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n
Alpina modified the suspension with stiffer, gas-pressure Bilstein shocks at both front and rear combined with shorter, progressive springs which make the car 20 mm lower. The Alpina alloys are 7×16″ with 195\/50 tires all-round.<\/p>\n
At the front, Girling brakes with ventilated discs were installed.<\/p>\n
Interior\/Exterior<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n
The interior changes include a leather-covered Alpina steering wheel made by Momo, an Alpina gear-knob, Alpina instruments and Recaro seats. The exterior changes are limited to a deep front-spoiler, rear spoiler, Alpina alloys and optional Alpina striping.<\/p>\n
Performance<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n
Alpina claimed 6,9 seconds from 0-100 km\/h and a top speed of 230 km\/h.<\/p>\n
Production<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n
The B6 2.8\/1 was produced from November 1983 to July 1986. A total of 259 cars were made.<\/p>\n
