Alpina B3 3.3 Switchtronic build number 048 Anybody who knows the Alpina brand will appreciate what this car really is and the craftsmanship involved in it’s construction. Equipped with many Alpina optional extras – Buffalo leather package, Xenons, TV\/nav package. Quite the car in it’s day. Switchtronic auto with shift buttons on the steering wheel. There are a few minor scratches and a little bubbling around the rear arch, but this need to be said now so you know. I had fully intended to get these addressed but as a new company car turned up, it wasn’t a priority. The car is priced to sell. Interested? This has been a fantastic car to own.
\nA real sleeper. These were the fastest E46 you could get until BMW released the M3. I bought the car last year to scratch an itch I’d had for a while. It then sat in the garage over winter until March when I taxed it and had the wheels and caps refurbished by Lepsons, on the recommendation of a mod on the Alpina forums. They are completely unmarked. They were then fitted with brand new Avon tyres in the correct size and speed rating and have since done about 200miles.
\nThe car drives very well indeed. There are no knocks or bangs from anywhere although you can detect slight movement in the ‘lollipop’ bushes. The exhaust flap has been set to open and it makes a lovely growl as you pootle about.
\nThe switchtronic gearbox works exactly as it should do in both full auto and in sport where you can change gear via buttons on the steering wheel or by moving the lever. Cruise control works perfectly as does the stereo which can also be controlled from the steering wheel. The interior is amazing and in near mint condition The black buffalo hide leather is something else indeed. Originaly a \u00a35k option when new!! The Harmon Kardon sounds brilliant, with a cd multichanger in the boot.
\nThe only ‘problem’ is analogue TV reception (fat chance) and the satnav dvd is a few years old so whilst it does work perfectly, it doesn’t support postcode search. I have a folder full of paperwork to back up the service history, reg plate changes, interim repairs, etc etc. All handbooks are present, full tool kit, torch in glovebox.
\nV5 present and in my name
\nBad bits:
\nAirbag light came on after having passengers in the car last week. Have been told it’s probably a seat occupancy sensor faulty but have not had it investigated.
\nCorrosion on bottom of NSR wheel arch (pictured)
\nVery light scratch on NS flank doesn’t show up in pic
\nVery slight rust bubbling on boot lid by number plate
\nSlight bubbling on OSR wheel arch
\nThe usual E46 stuff really.Selling because I’m having a midlife crises and need the garage space for
\na Mk2 RS2000<\/p>\n
Car is located in Northwood in Middlesex. 10 minutes from M25 J18\/19 or 10 minutes from M1 J5 and is available for viewing anytime.
