\nHe returned to Chicago and Federalized and imported it in 1985…drove it Summers, stored it Winters until the end of the 80’s
\nwhen it was sold to a young man in Dublin, California who used it as a daily driver.
\nI bought it in 1993 (at 63,000 miles) through the Roundel Magazine classified ads, and brought it home to New Mexico and spent a few years bringing it back to health, although it’s not done and I have yet to fix all the door dings accumulated in California. It now has 115,000 miles on it, all original paint except the hood and front fenders.
\nHave driven it in driver’s schools with BMWCCA and autocrossed (SCCA) it regularly in the mid 1990’s.
\nTraveled (flew) to Buchloe in 1995 and verified it’s lineage with the folks at the factory. Car was written up in the BMWACA Whispering Bomb in the 90’s and Zach Mayne did a very nice article with photos in Bimmer Magazine on the car in August 2008.

His name is Marc Waller (jmarc68@comcast.net) and he and I maintain a regular email correspondence about the car and other things as our friendship has developed since the sale.
\nHe is very enthusiastic about the car and I predict that he would be thrilled to participate in your Hungarian friend’s book, so I will copy this email to him as well, which will give him a chance to consider it, and allow you direct contact with him.
\nI will also add a couple photographs to this email showing the car and his transformation of it.
